Great Teacher Onizuka ( GTO) is a Japanese manga series with it´s own anime adaptation and live action series as well. It was released in the year 1997, although people might argue that they have no time to watch this series it is something we all must watch once in our life time. The manga is rated 8.7 and the anime adaptation also goes higher. So what makes this show really great? Compare to the modern animes that offer people crazy plots, twisted lines and to many hentai scenes?. Well let´s look at the story line of GTO.

Onizuka is a delinquent who wants to make a living by getting a job, he spends most of his time fooling around with his best friend Ryuji Denma. He is offered a job as a teacher in one of the high school, now Onizuka being a former gang member, he is extremely unprofessional, perverted and a fool most of the time. He only takes the job as a teacher to pay his rant and to get laid with high school girls, he has no talent for teaching at all. Most of his classes are him making adult jokes, telling nonsense stories and him all the time not taking his job seriously. People around him judge him to the extend that they want him fired out the school and even take actions to get him to quit his job. When people are faced with a teacher like that who won´t to be honest?

But despite all the critics, the action they take against him and the truth people throw on his face. He seems to be always, who he was from the start he never changes. Onizuka knows he is a middle aged perverted man who only wants to sleep with girls and that he is not cut out for the job he is doing but rather then trying to hide who he is? He accepts it that this is how human he is. “I would rather be hurt with a truth then live in a lie.” This is what we all can learn from this great anime, that is okay to be how you are do what you love doing because you too are human in the end and that you too will die as a story. Most people now days often lie to themselves trying to be perfect and go after money, attention and etc, for Onizuka he is a simple man with his own motto and he strongly lives by those motto, something which most people can´t do in this modern age.

When it comes to teaching, he is not educated in any of the subjects that most teachers teach but he is educated in one very significant subject ` Life`. He teaches his students how to stand up for themselves, how to overcome their fears. When to show courage and how to deal with failures? All those things are something we all are left alone to learn in this world but being teens and adolescents we often make the wrong decisions, when we are faced with something uncomfortable and that´s where Onizuka excels in teaching where another teachers fail to do so. Onizuka has a will to do what is wants and students are attracted to him because he doesn´t pretend to be someone he is not. He is a man when faced with a situation on choosing  rightness or kindness, he always choosest kindness.

The anime has something to offer to each one of it´s viewers on their life, be it a boomer or teens. So if you are a fan of anime and haven´t heard about this anime. You will in for a treat, even if you are not an Otaku you can still enjoy this slice of life anime that is offered by Tooru Fujusawa..
